Don Lacey
Committee Member/Store Collection Sub Committee

I was born in Great Yarmouth August 1929 and went to school at Alderman Swindell and Priory schools. At the beginning of WW11I was evacuated to Cambridge as my Dad was a policeman and was transferred to Gorleston in charge. It was thought I would be safer living with my aunt and uncle than living in a police house. Went to the Coleridge Road Senior School for a short period before returning to Gorleston in 1942 where I completed my schooling at the Alderman Leach School . I started work at the corn and agricultural Merchants, J & H Bunn Ltd., where I stayed for 47 years. I did my two years National Service in the RAF as a policeman where I spent some time in some in Ceylon ( Sri Lanka ).

I took early retirement in 1990 because of poor health. For many years we bred poodles and then went on to miniature schnauzers. Both these breeds do not moult and have to be stripped to keep them neat.

Became a member of HeartCare during 2000 when a friend had a heart attack following a session of the disease Gillian Barrie and was encouraged to join myself although fortunately I have not had any heart troubles. I have been on the Stores collecting committee from mid 2004 having helped for some time with collections and now either start or finish collections.
