Pie or Flan Case

(Here is a recipe for a traditional pie or flan case without saturated fat)

Ingredients: -

1 - cup sifted plain flour

⅓ - cup light syrup

2.75ml/¾ tsp - salt (optional)

30ml/2 tbsp - skimmed milk

Method: -

Preheat oven to 240ºC/475ºF/gas mark 9

Mix the flour and salt in a bowl.

Combine the syrup and milk, add all at once to the flour mixture.Stir with a fork until thoroughly mixed.

Shape the mixture into a ball and place it between two squares of greaseproof paper lightly dusted with flour.

Roll the pastry into a circle large enough to line the pie or flan case.

Arrange pastry in the dish, cut off edges with a knife and press with a fork.

Prick the bottom all over with a fork.

Bake for about 10 minutes or until golden brown.

Cool before adding the filling of your choice.
