In the case of a sudden collapse could you give Resuscitation and Emergency Life support to a person?

Would you like to learn how to perform these simple functions?

HeartStart UK is a voluntary organisation affiliated to the British Heart Foundation whose aim is to train all willing persons in Emergency Life Support and CPR (Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation).

If you witnessed a collapse, there is a 90% chance that the person would either be a loved one or even a friend.

It is within the first three minutes after collapse that appropriate action could mean the difference between life and death.

An ambulance on average could take 8 to 12 minutes to arrive following a category one, 999 call.

In a 1½ hour training session you could learn all the necessary skills to perform Emergency Life Support before an ambulance and paramedic arrives on the scene. In doing this, you could possibly save that life.

The course gives an introduction, with the aid of overhead view foils followed by hands-on experience in small groups, using resuscitate-manikins with instructors. The session also covers how to deal with choking, severe bleeding and the recognition of a possible heart attack.

All training is given free.HeartStart UK exists alongside the first aid organisations like St John Ambulance and Red Cross and only give training in CPR not full First Aid
